Son Of Walk In The Park Outclasses Rivals In Maiden Hurdle
The well-regarded O’Moore Park (7g Walk In The Park – Glor Na Gaoithe, by Presenting) ran out an impressive winner of Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse.
Willie Mullins’ charge finished a promising third on last month’s hurdle bow, following a long lay-off, and was sent off favourite to build on that effort under Paul Townend. Making all of the running over two and a half miles, he began to quicken clear approaching the final flight and needed little encouragement to lead by nine lengths on the line.
Townend later commented that O’Moore Park would be seen to better effect over fences, with the bay having previously advertised his jumping talents when impressing in a four-year-old maiden for Pat Doyle. That performance saw Mullins and Harold Kirk give £240,000 for the son of Walk In The Park, who is now owned by Mrs Ricci. The exciting prospect was bred by Patrick O’Mahony.
