Son Of Walk In The Park Records Back-To-Back Wins

Westerninthepark (6g Walk In The Park – Western Skylark, by Westerner) took a step forward on Friday to defy a penalty in the Novices’ Hurdle at Fakenham.

A bumper winner last season, the bay made a winning start for Anthony Charlton in a maiden hurdle last month and was sent off favourite to follow up under Harry Cobden. He tracked the leader for much of the way and was pushed along to lead at the second last. Clear turning for home, he kept on to win by a comfortable four lengths

“It's a sharp track for a big horse like him,” Harry Cobden commented after the race. “He jumped well, did everything nicely and quickened up well. Fences and a trip will be his thing going forward.”

Westerninthepark is owned by the Box 8 Partnership and Avon Racing, who purchased the bay following his debut second for Sean Doyle. The son of Walk In The Park was bred by Ms C Corrigan and Tom Conway.
