Son Of Westerner Draws Clear In Novices Hurdle

Supremely West (5g Westerner - Blue Supreme, by Pistolet Blue) impressed with a wide margin win in Thursday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Carlisle.

The son of Westerner won a bumper on rules debut for Michelle Gannon before joining Dr Richard Newland, for whom he won his next two starts. The bay was last seen finishing second on his hurdle debut in May and was sent off favourite under Charlie Hammond on return. Travelling strongly throughout, he led from the second last and was pushed clear approaching the final flight. Keeping on well on the run-in, he won by 12 lengths with ease.

Supremely West was bred by Padraig Barry, whose colours he carried on his maiden victory.
