Cold Sobar (Westerner) Wins On Rules Debut at Newcastle

Son Of Westerner Draws Clear On Rules Debut

Point-to-point winner Cold Sobar (6g Westerner - Moyglass Lass, by Oscar) proved a class above his rivals in Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Newcastle.

Making his first start for Stuart Coltherd, the son of Westerner was ridden to make all by Sam Coltherd and was shaken up to go clear at the second last. Eased down on the run-in, he led by 13 lengths on the line.

Cold Sobar carries the colours of Mrs Debbie Crawford, having been purchased privately following his maiden win at Tallow for Paul Pierce. The son of Westerner was bred by Matthew Tynan out of a full-sister to Grade 3 winning chaser Baltiman (Oscar).
