Son Of Westerner Emerges As Leading Cheltenham Contender

Teeshan (5g Westerner – Miss Pepperpot, by Winged Love) shortened into 6-1 for the Cheltenham Champion Bumper after making an impressive rules debut at Exeter on Sunday.

The son of Westerner won a four-year-old maiden at Loughanmore by all of 41 lengths for Gerald Quinn and subsequently joined the Paul Nicholls stable. Carrying the colours of Mrs Johnny de la Hey on Sunday, the exciting recruit was sent off favourite for the bumper and was ridden prominently by Harry Cobden. Leading from two furlongs out, he was shaken up to go clear a furlong later and went on to win by seven lengths with ease.

Bred by Seamus Moore, Teeshan provides notable updates for his two-year-old brother by Maxios.
