Son Of Westerner Impresses With Back To Back Wins

Wicked West (5g Westerner - Wilde Sapphire, by Oscar) made it two from two for the Dr Richard Newland stable when running out an easy winner of Monday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Southwell.

An impressive winner of his maiden hurdle last month, the Michael Tudor-owned bay was sent off the even-money favourite for the two mile contest. He made all under Sam Twiston-Davies, travelling best of the field with two flights left to jump and was eased down close home to win by six and a half lengths.

The son of Westerner was bred by J Thornhill and J Lenihan out of a winning half-sister to useful chaser Enjoy Responsibly (Flemensfirth).
