Son Of Westerner Produces Perfect Debut Performance
Saturday saw Fire Attack (4g Westerner - Seesea, by Dr Massini) make a winning debut in the two mile and two furlong bumper at Limerick.
Sent off second favourite under Tim Hamilton, the Joseph O’Brien-trained bay raced towards the back of the field until three furlongs out, from which he made good progess on the outside. Taking second with two furlongs to race, he led soon after and ran on to win by two lengths.
Assistant trainer Brendan Powell later said of the winner, “He's got gears this horse and he should have a nice future as a jumper. You couldn't have asked much more today.”
Sold by breeder Longrove Stud as a store for €72,000, Fire Attack is owned by Gigginstown House Stud. He is a full-brother to black-type hurdler Western Ryder (Westerner), who gained his first win over fences last month.
