Son Of Westerner Rallies For Maiden Hurdle Win
The Harry Fry-trained Hot Rod Lincoln (7g Westerner - Flaming Annie, by Flemensfirth) produced a game performance to win Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Fontwell.
An impressive winner of his sole start between the flags, the son of Westerner was last seen finished third at Sandown in February and was sent off favourite on return. Leading for much of the way under Nick Schofield, the bay was ridden when challenged at the second last and kept on well on the run-in to prevail by half a length on the line. The front pair finished ten lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Hot Rod Lincoln is the first foal bred by Miss Catriona Tully out of the Flemensfirth mare Flaming Annie, who has a Walk In The Park four-year-old in training with Colin Bowe.
