Son Of Westerner Scores On Hurdle Debut
Bobhopeornohope (5g Westerner - Bandelaro, by Beneficial) made a smart start to his hurdle career when making a winning return to action at Exeter on Tuesday.
The son of Westerner was bought by Aiden Murphy and Kim Bailey for £105,000 after winning his sole start for Cormac Doyle and finished third in a bumper on his first start for Bailey. Not seen since March, he stepped up to two miles and five furlongs on his hurdle debut and soon led under David Bass. Headed at the third last, he rallied under pressure and regained the advantage at the final flight, staying on to beat the favourite by a length and three quarters.
Owned by J Perriss, Bobhopeornohope was bred by Paul Giles out of a half-sister to useful chasers Marlbrook and I’m A Game Changer.
