Son Of Yeats A Game Winner On Rules Debut
Byzantium Lad (7g Yeats - Socialite Girl, by Glacial Storm) made a smart start for the Charlie Longsdon stable when running out a clear winner of Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Ludlow.
Successful in a point-to-point for Fred Hutsby, the son of Yeats faced a year’s absence on his rules debut in the colours of Mrs Marcine Marshall. He led for much of the three mile contest, but was headed at the fourth last and showed a game attitude to regain the advantage before the next. Pushed along approaching the final flight, he kept on well to score by seven lengths under Tom Buckley.
Bred by Terry Ryan, Byzantium Lad is a half-brother to Longsdon’s Grade 2 performer Lisdoonvarna Lad (Westerner).
