Son Of Yeats Adds Grade 2 To Impressive Chase Record
Hang In There (8g Yeats - Jaldemosa, by Cadoudal) led home a 1-2 for Yeats in the Grade 2 'Rising Stars' Novices’ Chase at Wincanton on Saturday.
A Grade 2 winner over hurdles, Emma Lavelle’s charge came into Saturday’s contest having won four of his six previous starts over fences, but faced a talented field in the two and a half mile chase. Ridden to chase the leader by Tom Bellamy, he led approaching the second last and kept on well when ridden from the final fence. He led by three and a half lengths on the line, while Mortlach (Yeats) finished clear of the third.
“Hang In There will be on holiday now,” co-owner Tim Syder later revealed. “We'll find a target for him in the spring. I expect we'll find a target for him at Aintree.”
Syder owns the son of Yeats with Andrew Gemmell, having purchased the now nine-time winner after a promising start over hurdles for Mags Mullins and breeder Daniel Furini.
