Son Of Yeats Battles For Beginners Chase Success
Who’s My Jockey (6g Yeats - Scandisk, by Kenmare) gained his first win over fences at just the second attempt when taking the three mile Beginners chase at Hexham on Saturday.
Successful on three occasions over hurdles and the winner of a bumper, the Philip Hobbs-trained bay finished a respectable fourth on chase debut in early May over two furlongs further. Sent off second favourite under Tom O’Brien, he chased the leader for much of the way and rallied bravely approaching the final fence, staying on well to lead close home. He beat the favourite No Hassle Hoff by half a length, with a further four and a half lengths back to the third horse.
Owned by Paul and Clare Rooney, Who’s My Jockey was bred by Drumlin Bloodstock and fetched €60,000 as a store from bloodstock agent Kevin Ross. A full-brother to dual winner Blixt (Yeats), he is closely related to the legendary Hurricane Fly, himself a son of the late Montjeu.
