Son Of Yeats Carries Breeder’s Silks To Success
Sunday saw Mister Twist (5g Yeats - Ollies Gal, by Portrait Gallery) gain a deserved win in the maiden hurdle at Downpatrick.
Placed on three previous occasions, Philip Fenton’s charge was sent off favourite under regular rider Niall Moore and raced prominently throughout the two mile and five furlong opener. Leading from the third last, he was pushed along when challenged after the next, before being ridden clear on the run-in. Running on well, the son of Yeats won by three and a quarter lengths from Dylan’s Day (Dylan Thomas), with just a head back to Glendars Mahler (Mahler) in third. The trio finished clear of the field.
Mister Twist is owned by breeder Bertie Mannion, for whom he becomes the first winner out of the mare Ollies Gal.
