Son Of Yeats Comes Out On Top In Competitive Bumper
The Paul Nicholls-trained Chavez (4g Yeats - Rock The Baby, by Waveney) proved best of some strongly-fancied newcomers to win Monday’s bumper at Chepstow.
The bay raced prominently throughout under Harry Cobden and was pushed to lead approaching the two furlongs marker, staying on well under pressure to deny the favourite Slip Road by a length.
Owned by Malcolm Denmark and bred by Declan Phelan, Chavez becomes the first winner out of Rock The Baby, herself a half-sister to Grade 2 victor Sumkindasuprstar and Listed winner Florida Express.
