Son Of Yeats Digs Deep For Bumper Success
The Ben Haslam-trained Spider Pig (4g Yeats - Beaus Polly, by Presenting) displayed a determined attitude when making all to win Monday’s bumper at Ayr.
Third on debut last month, the son of Yeats was ridden to lead by Richie McLernon and gained a clear advantage with three furlongs left to race. Pushed along a furlong later, he dug deep to hold off a strong challenge by Fly By Milan (Milan) and prevailed by a neck on the line, as the front pair finished 16 lengths clear of the field.
Trained by Haslam for More Turf Racing, Spider Pig was bought by his trainer and Bobby O’Ryan as a three-year-old for £50,000. Bred by Margaret Vaughan, he provides an important update for his full-brother catalogued at the Tattersalls Ireland November NH Sale.
