Son Of Yeats Draws Clear In Listed Chase
Stealthy Tom (8g Yeats - Hi Native, by Be My Native) added a black-type win to his fine run when drawing clear to win Saturday’s Listed Chase at Killarney.
Enda Bolger’s charge came into the race having won two of his last three starts, the defeat being a close second in the valuable Listed Midlands National. Dropping back to two miles and five furlongs on Saturday, he was sent off favourite under Mark McDonagh and tracked the leader for much of the way. In front after the second last, he boasted a sizeable advantage by the final fence and drew further clear on the run-in to score by ten lengths.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “His jumping was great today, it was slick and fast. The Kerry National would have to come into the equation now but it all depends on what is top weight.”
Saturday marked a seventh career success for Stealthy Tom, who is owned by JP McManus and was bred by K McManus. The son of Yeats counts Grade 1 winner Gilgamboa (Westerner) among his siblings.
