Son Of Yeats Gains Deserved Hurdle Success

Saturday saw the Paul O’Flynn-trained West Cork Wildway (6g Yeats - Dollar’s Worth, by Presenting) add a maiden hurdle success to his resume when justifying favoritism at Killarney.

Successful on both his starts between the flags, the son of Yeats landed a bumper last season and had been placed twice over hurdles. Racing over two miles and one furlong on his latest start, he chased the leaders under Darragh O’Keeffe and was pushed along approaching the third last. Soon taking second, he was ridden approaching the next and kept on well under pressure to lead on the run-in. The winning margin was a length, with the first two racing 17 lengths clear of the field.

The winning trainer was represented by Tom O’Flynn, who later commented, “He won a four year old point to point and ideally he needs a longer trip than today, but it is great to win. I'm delighted for the 13 member syndicate, who are from West Cork.”
