Son Of Yeats Makes Perfect Start Over Hurdles

The Harry Fry-trained Goudhurst Star (5g Yeats - Baliya, by Robellino) proved a cut above his rivals in Wednesday’s maiden hurdle at Warwick.

Racing over two miles and three furlongs on his hurdle bow, the bay produced a challenge three from home and led from the second last. Keeping on well on the run-in, he scored by six lengths under Jonathan Burke, while the favourite ended his unbeaten record in third.

Owned by Nigel and Barbara Collison, Goudhurst Star was bought by Richard Rohan as a foal for €37,000. The son of Yeats was bred by Shane McCarthy and is closely related to Grade 3 hurdle winner Brave Vic.
