Tupelo Mississippi (Yeats) Wins Bumper At Newcastle

Son Of Yeats Races Clear To Bumper Win

Tupelo Mississippi (5g Yeats - Misleain, by Un Desperado) justified strong market support when running out an impressive winner of Friday’s two mile bumper at Newcastle.

Bought by owners Phil and Julie Martin after taking second in a point-to-point for Colin Bowe, he made a promising start for the Brian Ellison stable when finishing fourth earlier this month. He raced prominently on the outside, with Danny Cook niggling him along from five furlongs out, his mount improving into second soon after. Ridden to lead approaching the two furlong marker, he stayed on strongly to win by 13 lengths on the line.

The son of Yeats becomes the third winner bred by Robin Ellerbeck out of the mare, a half-sister to Venetia Williams’ useful Schuh Shine.
