Straightforward Bumper Success For Daughter Of Milan
Polla Milano (6m Milan - Issaquah, by Supreme Leader) built on a promising start for the Denis Hogan stable to win the mares’ bumper at Cork on Thursday.
An impressive winner at Boulta in December, the bay finished third on testing ground for new connections last month and was sent off second favourite on Thursday. She chased the leaders under Jody Townend, quickening to dispute turning for home and asserted at the three furlong pole. Keeping on strongly under hands and heels, she won by six and a half lengths.
Speaking after the race, Townend said, “She was very good, very straightforward. She's a nice mare going forward.”
Now owned by Michael and Joan Toomey, Polla Milano was bred by Miss Mary O’Sullivan out of Graded performer Issaquah.
