Stylish bumper winner for Gold Well
The Stuart Crawford-trained Legacy Gold (5m Gold Well-Durgams Delight, by Durgam) made a hugely impressive winning debut to give Gold Well another success at Sedgefield on Friday.
The well-backed favourite - carrying the colours of breeder Chris Johnson - justified the journey over from County Antrim as she coasted home three and a quarter lengths of the field.
The Racing Post’s Analysis noted: “She won this in good style, and this half-sister to 2m 1f hurdle winner Oh So Humbel looks a fair recruit who should prove competitive if asked to carry a penalty.”
On the same afternoon at Warwick, the Philip Hobbs-trained Sausalito Sunrise (5g Gold Well-Villaflor, by Religiously) - a winning Irish point-to-pointer - made an eye-catching debut under Rules when second in a 15-runner bumper at Huntingdon. “He should make a decent novice hurdler”, commented the Racing Post after the race.
Gold Well, a full-brother to Montjeu, has joined the Coolmore National Hunt line up for 2013 and is standing at The Beeches for a fee of €5,000.
