Talented Daughter of Yeats Draws Clear
Graded performer Sabrina (7m Yeats - En Vedette, by Astarabad) returned to winning ways in impressive fashion on Sunday.
An impressive winner of a bumper, the Paul Nicholls-trained mare scored over hurdles before finishing third in a Grade 2 contest at the end of last season. Second on her first two starts this campaign, the daughter of Yeats was sent off favourite as she stepped up to two miles and seven furlongs in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Exeter. Racing prominently under Freddie Gingell, she was ridden from two out and gained a clear advantage by the final flight. Keeping on well on the run-in, she led by 16 lengths on the line.
Sabrina was bred by Louis Vambeck out of En Vedette, whose four-year-old Villainess (Yeats) finished second on debut earlier this month. She also has a two-year-old by Flemensfirth, which sold for €72,000 as a foal.
