Talented Son Of Milan Impresses On Seasonal Return
The talented Brewin’upastorm (8g Milan - Daraheen Diamond, by Husyan) appeared better than ever on his seasonal return when running out a clear winner of Saturday’s Betway Hurdle at Aintree.
The Grade 2 winner carried topweight of a competitive field which included last year’s winner Summerville Boy, and Grade 1 winning favourite If The Cap Fits (Milan). Ridden to chase the leaders by Aidan Coleman, Olly Murphy’s charge made good headway to lead at the second last and was travelling well approaching the final flight. Pushed out on the run-in, he led by nine lengths on the line.
Speaking after the race, the delighted winning trainer said, “Everyone needs a good horse in the yard and when he's good he's very good. I thought he was very impressive today.”
Purchased for £250,000 after winning on debut for Tim Hyde, Brewin’upastorm has won seven races for owner Mrs Barbara Hester. Bred by Longrove Stud, he completed a double on the day for Grange Stud sire Milan.
Earlier that day at Tattersalls, Monbeg Lane (5g Milan - Lakil Princess, by Bering) made a perfect start in the five-year-old geldings maiden under Jamie Scallan.
Sean Doyle’s newcomer was delivered late to win by two lengths, with another eight lengths back to the third horse. Bred by Minch Bloodstock, the €88,000 store purchase has since been entered in the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale.
