Talented Son Of Westerner Bolts Up On Chase Debut
Useful hurdler Wicked West (6g Westerner - Wilde Sapphire, by Oscar) made an impressive start over fences when running out an easy winner at Exeter on Tuesday.
The son of Westerner won his first two starts over hurdles for Dr Richard Newland and had since picked up prize money for owner Michael Tudor in Class 2 contests. Sent off favourite on for Tuesday’s chase, he sauntered into the lead four from home and drew clear from the next. The bay cantered home 28 lengths clear of the field.
Wicked West was bred by J Thornhill and J Lenihan out of a half-sister to black-type chaser Enjoy Responsibly (Flemensfirth).
