Talented Yeats Mare Justifies Favoritism At Punchestown
The Graded-placed Lady Breffni (7m Yeats - Time To Shine, by Pivotal) gained a deserved win over hurdles when landing the Mares Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown on Monday afternoon.
A wide-margin winner between the flags for Dermot McLoughlin, Lady Breffni went on to impress in a bumper, but had the misfortune of chasing home Colreevy on her hurdle debut. Subsequently second in a Grade 3, she finished a promising fourth in a valuable contest on her first start for the Willie Mullins stable last month and was unsurprisingly sent off favourite on Monday.
Partnered by Danny Mullins, she did enough to deny the game Humble Glory (Fame And Glory) by a length and a quarter, as the pair drew well clear of the field.
Owned by Mark Dobbin, Lady Breffni is the best performer bred by TJ Adams out of winning hurdler and chaser Time To Shine.
