Hay Meadow (Wings Of Eagles) Wins The 4YO Mares Maiden At Ballyraggett

Three More Point-to-Point Incentive Winners at Ballyragget

St Patrick’s Day weekend saw three more qualifiers for the point-to-point incentive, all coming at the North Kilkenny Foxhounds-run fixture on Sunday. First up was Hay Meadow (Wings of Eagles), owned, trained and bred by Billy Codd, who landed the 4YO Mares Maiden. She is the first point-to-point winner from the first Irish crop of her Epsom Derby-winning sire from just two runners to date in that sphere.

The 4YO Geldings Maiden was won by the Ken Parkhill-bred Mossy Fen Road (Flemensfirth) trained by Donnchadh Doyle, fresh from a fantastic week at Cheltenham where two of his graduates scored at Grade 1 level. Remarkably, Mossy Fen Road, a €75,000 Goffs Arkle Sale purchase, is the first winner in the age group in 2024 for Doyle who also supplied the winner of the 5YO Geldings Maiden in the shape of Small Town Kid (Getaway), bred by Patrick Crotty.
