Total Recall is Munster National hero for Westerner
Punters placed huge faith in Total Recall (8g Westerner-Augest Weekend, by Dr Massini) on his first start for Willie Mullins in the ultra-competitive Munster National at Limerick on Sunday.
Ruby Walsh’s mount, bred by John Connolly, was sent off at just 2/1 in the famous 16-runner contest and that market confidence proved justified.
Walsh took the lead two fences out aboard the Westerner gelding in the three-mile chase and had opened up a seven-length margin over the field by the time they passed the winning post.
"He travelled and jumped well,” said Walsh. "He's a nice horse to get and was obviously well taught as a novice last year.
“He's a very loose horse, like an elastic band, and he has great use of himself and has great power.”
