Tough Westerner Lady wins another G3
The gutsy Westerner mare Westerner Lady (6m Westerner-Cloghoge Lady, by Presenting) made it nine wins from 14 career starts when bagging her second G3 victory at Clonmel on Thursday.
Trained by Willie Mullins for breeder Anthony Butler, the six-year-old justified favouritism to win the G3 EBF T A Morris Memorial Chase over two and a half miles under Ruby Walsh.
“She’s very tough and I was left kind of kicking myself after Cork last time as she made a mistake early and I probably should have pulled her up instead of giving her a hard race. It didn’t matter though and she did it well today,” said Walsh.
Mullins added: “Ruby let her pop away and grow in confidence through the race. I hate stopping with them when they are winning and if we can find another mares’ race we will give her another run.”
