Ultra Progressive Son Of Yeats Triumphs At Grade 1 Level
Flooring Porter (5g Yeats - Lillymile, by Revoque) continued his remarkable progression this season when making all to win the Grade 1 Leopardstown Christmas Hurdle in convincing fashion.
Owned by a syndicate of the same name, Flooring Porter was supplemented for the Grade 1 contest following his impressive success in a valuable Grade B hurdle at Navan. Jonathan Moore took the ride once again on Monday, extending his advantage to four lengths from five out and was faced with a strong challenge after the third last. Regaining a clear advantage from the penultimate hurdle, Gavin Cromwell’s charge kept on strongly to score by six lengths.
Monday marked a first top-level victory for Jonathan Moore, who later said, “What a horse! I felt like I was always in my comfort zone out there.”
Flooring Porter is now a five-time winner over hurdles, while his performances in defeat include finishing third in the Grade B Guinness Handicap Hurdle at this year’s Galway Festival. The son of Castlehyde Stud sire Yeats was bred by Sean Murphy.
