Pink In The Park (Walk In The Park) Wins The Listed Mares Chase At Clonmel

Walk In The Park Ends Strong Sale With Six-Figure Mare

Walk In The Park’s progeny remained popular on the final day of the Goffs December NH Sale, where Grade 1 placed broodmare prospect Pink In The Park (Walk In The Park) fetched €120,000, while a colt foal by the Grange Stud sire sold for €82,000.

Frank O’Meara provided the highest bid for the mare, signing as Powerstown Stud, whose Tom Whitehead later commented: “She’s a lovely individual and was a good racemare- that seems to be what everyone is looking for now.

“We’ll get her home and in the spring we’ll give her a good cover. We’ll do our best for her.”

Last seen winning a Listed chase, the Willie Mullins-trained and Jackie Mullins-bred bay is a full-sister to Chart Topper, who won his hurdle debut by 25 lengths earlier this year.

Earlier in the session, Zoe Tolson celebrated a fantastic result when selling her Walk In The Park colt foal for €82,000. “I’m absolutely overwhelmed, it’s just brilliant,” she said. “I’m used to doing foals, but this is the first ever consignment under my own name. I prepped them myself, so I’m over the moon to get this result.”

The June-bred colt was bought by Gerry Aherne and Charles Shanahan, with the former later commenting: “We’re big fans of Walk In The Park simply because he’s the best.

“We know a lot about the family. He's a very well-bred horse, but still a baby, he’s very young. Nevertheless, we thought he was really nice. We didn't think we’d have to give as much for him, but there you are, we have him now.”

Walk In The Park was responsible for the sale’s overall top lot, Ballyreddin and Busherstown’s colt foal bought by Nicolas Bertran de Balanda for a record-breaking €160,000. The Grange Stud sire was the top sire of the sale after three days of trade.
