Walk In The Park Filly Proves A Cut Above At Compiegne

Kochenka (4f Walk In The Park – Dotchenka, by Astarabad) produced a smart performance to win Tuesday’s four-year-old hurdle at Compiegne.

Trained by Emmanuel Clayeaux for Madame Jacques Cypres, the Walk In The Park filly had finished second in a similar Class 2 contest last month. Held up at the back of the field on her third start, she was last as they approached the turn for home, but needed little encouragement to narrow the advantage at the second last. Leaping into the lead at the final flight, she kept on well to win by four lengths under Felix de Giles.

Kochenka is evidently held in high regard by connections, as the owner purchased her Vadamos half-brother. Bred by Thomas James, the pair are also siblings of bumper and hurdle winner Stadium Talk (Soldier Of Fortune).
