Walk In The Park Mare Gets Off The Mark Over Hurdles
The promising Manitopark AA (5m Walk In The Park - Manitoba, by Valanour) gained a deserved first win in Ireland when landing the mares’ maiden hurdle at Cork on Saturday afternoon.
Purchased privately after winning five of her six starts for Didier Guillemin, the bay had since finished second twice for Willie Mullins and was sent off favourite as she stepped up to two miles and three furlongs. She made all under Danny Mullins, quickening from two out and was three lengths clear at the final flight. Ridden out on the run-in, she won by four lengths from Glory For Molly.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Manitopark AA warmed to the task well and I still had a bit up my sleeve turning for home. She is progressing and hopefully when she gets a bit of sun on her back, she can continue to do so.”
Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, the daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Bruno Thierry and Haras Du Bosquet.
