Walk In The Park Mare Scores On Debut
The Gabriel Leenders-trained Marche A L’Ombre (4f Walk In The Park - Nocturne, by My Risk) showed her class when making a winning debut at Saint Jean De Monts on Sunday.
Racing over a mile and seven furlongs, the sole newcomer settled in midfield under Francois Gautier and was travelling well entering the final circuit, where she improved to dispute the lead. Quickening on the back straight, she held off a challenge by Grande Evasion as they turned for home and was ridden out to win by four lengths.
Owned by Leenders with Madame Pascale Papon, Marche A L’Ombre was bred by Haras de Peyre and Georges Lacombe. The daughter of Grange Stud sire Walk In The Park becomes the first winner out of the mare Nocturne.
