Walk In The Park Mare Sparkles On Debut
Willie Mullins unleashed his latest star on Sunday when Ashroe Diamond (4f Walk In The Park - Saine D’Esprit, by Dom Alco) made an impressive debut in the mares’ bumper at Wexford.
Sent off the short-priced favourite, the bay raced in midfield under Patrick Mullins and began to make headway from halfway, improving to chase the leaders with three furlongs left to race. Sauntering into the lead approaching the final furlong, she won by 14 lengths with supreme ease.
The winning rider confirmed the taking nature of Ashroe Diamond’s victory, saying, “That was very impressive and that's what she has been showing us at home. I couldn't pull her up. I think these Walk In The Park's are going to be quite good.”
He added that the Blue Blood Racing Club-owned filly would now seek black-type. The daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Mrs Jackie Mullins out of a half-sister to Quel Esprit.
