Walk In The Park Mares Complete Smart Double
Delta Blues Belle (4m Walk In The Park – Pink Mist, by Montelimar) became the first of two Walk In The Park mares to gain their maiden wins between the flags on Sunday, when justifying support in the four-year-old mares maiden at Knockmullen House.
It was a case of third time lucky for the Colin Bowe-trained mare, who had finished third on her two previous starts, with Barry O’Neill retaining the partnership on Sunday. Racing in second for much of the way, the co-favourite led before the second last and went on to score by two and a half lengths.
Bred by R Tanner, Delta Blues Belle is a half-sister to Ballycasey.
Later that afternoon at Dromahane, the Mary Doyle-trained newcomer Walks The Talk (5m Walk In The Park – Ballyknock Hill, by Indian Danehill) produced an impressive performance in the five-year-old mares maiden.
Sent off favourite under Brian Dunleavy, the bay made all of the running and began to assert from the second last. Six lengths clear at the final fence, she went on to score by nine lengths.
A return to the sales ring is now on the cards for the B Higgins-bred mare.
