Walk In The Park Proves All The Rage At Goffs

Coolmore NH sires dominated the opening session of the Goffs December NH Sale, where proceedings were led by a son of Walk In The Park at €82,000.

Pine Tree Stud were the successful buyers of the session-topping foal, which was consigned by Yellowford Farm as Lot 70. After confirming the colt had been bought to resell as a three-year-old, a representative for Pine Tree said, “He’s a very good-looking colt, and we’ve all seen what the sire can do and what he has to run for him over the next few seasons. He looks to have a couple of very exciting young point-to-pointers around at the moment.”

The bay is the second foal out of dual winner Blixt (Yeats), whose claim to fame is being a half-sister to the great Hurricane Fly (Montjeu), as well as a half-sister to the dam of Grade 1 winner Tornado Flyer (Flemensfirth).

Just a few days prior, Min had provided a reminder of what Walk In The Park had achieved from smaller crops, as he registered a third consecutive win in the Grade 1 John Durkan Chase. The Grange Stud sire’s first Irish foals turned three in 2020 and sold for up to €300,000 at the Irish store sales.

Pine Tree Stud secured another son of Walk In The Park earlier that day when going to €38,000 for Lot 52 from Walshtown Stud, who consigned the colt on behalf of Padraig Higgins.

Another consignor to reap rewards with Walk In The Park’s latest crop is Inchiquin Stud, who sold a bay colt for €48,000 on behalf of Cathal Landers. Kieran Shields provided the winning bid for Lot 235, while other buyers who secured the progeny of Walk In The Park on Wednesday included Kevin Ross, John Bleahen, Richard Frisby, Kilbride Equine and Hamish Macauley.
