Walk In The Park dominates at Goffs again
For a second consecutive day, Walk In The Park was responsible for the top-priced foal at the concluding session of the Goffs December Sale on Thursday.
Heading the way was a €72,000 colt out of the G1 winner Glens Melody, bred by Fiona McStay and offered from Ballincurig House Stud.
George Stanners of Goffs struck the successful bid and commented: “He’s been bought to race on behalf of an owner with Philip Kirby in Yorkshire. They were looking for a quality, well-bred foal and he fitted the bill – he’s a very good colt by a proven sire and he’s out of a top-class racemare.”
There was also a Walk In The Park connection to the highest-priced lot of the whole sale, the G3-winning mare Tocororo.
The five-year-old was offered by Gigginstown House Stud in foal to Walk In The Park and realised €100,000 when bought by Keiran Mariga.
“She’s a good, black-type mare and she’s in foal to Walk In The Park who I’m a fan of. She’s just a nice classy mare and we’ll get her home now and hopefully her foal will help to pay for her next year,” said Mariga.
Meanwhile, Getaway foals continued to be hot properties with prices of €50,000 (Martin Lynch) and €47,000 (Dick Frisby) on Thursday.
