Savina Wins At Tramore

Well-Bred Milan Mare Scores On Debut

The well-related Savina (5m Milan - Park Wave, by Supreme Leader) made a winning debut in Saturday’s mares’ bumper at Tramore.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare was sent off favourite for the two mile contest and Patrick Mullins began proceedings midfield of 12, improving to chase the leaders with a circuit left to race. Chasing down the clear leader from the three furlong pole, they led inside the final furlong and ran on well to score by two lengths and a quarter.

The winning trainer later commented, “Her pedigree and her stamina came to the fore and she galloped on to the end. I'd be looking forward to going over hurdles with her over a trip I think and she'll stay going now for the summer.”

Owned by the Hibo Syndicate, Savina was bred by Patricia and Marie Keating. The bay is closely related to talented chaser Gallant Oscar (Oscar) and is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Enterprise Park, while their dam is an unraced half-sister to the dam of The Listener.
