Well-Bred Son Of Yeats Wins On Debut
Blazing Port (4g Yeats - Despute, by Be My Native) justified market support when making a winning debut in Friday’s bumper at Sedgefield.
Thomas Dowson rode the bay to make all in the two mile and one furlong contest and asked him to quicken from two furlongs out. Strongly pressed approaching the final furlong, he kept on well to win by half a length.
There should be more to come from this son of Yeats, given that last year’s race was won by subsequent Grade 2 performer Champagne Well. Trained by Tristan Davidson for SprayClas UK, Blazing Port was bred by Thomas Meagher. He is a half-brother to talented chaser Burton Port and was bought by Gerry Hogan as a foal for €40,000.
