Westerner Mare Makes Winning Hurdle Debut

Two Shoe Tom (6m Westerner - Wing It Lady, by Hawk Wing) made a perfect start to her hurdle career when justifying favoritsim in the Mares Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Previously Listed-placed in bumpers, the Peter Fahey-trained mare made a pleasing return from a break when finishing third in a bumper earlier in the month. Kevin Sexton took the ride on Wednesday and rode the bay to track the leaders, improving to lead from the second last. Ridden out, his mount dug deep to hold off a challenge by What Wonders Weave and prevailed by a neck on the line.

Owned by Mrs B Howard and bred by Tom Howard, Two Shoe Tom is the first foal out of hurdle winner Wing It Lady.
