Westerner Mare Proves A Class Apart In Beginners Chase
Exit To The West (7m Westerner - Exitnell, by Exit To Nowhere) built on two promising performances over fences to win Saturday’s Beginners Chase at Cork with ease.
Successful in a point-to-point maiden last February, the Robert Tyner-trained mare won over hurdles on her seasonal return, before finishing second on both her starts over fences. She was sent off the even-money favourite to make it third time lucky under Phillip Enright, who rode her to chase the leaders and was travelling best of the field when asserting before two out. Clear of her rivals at the final fence, she was eased down close home to score by five and a half lengths.
Owned by RP Walshe, Exit To The West was bred by Katie Fallon out of a winning half-sister to useful chaser Potters Cross.
