No Memory (Westerner) Wins The Mares Maiden Hurdle At Ballinrobe

Westerner Mare Strides Clear In Maiden Hurdle

A step up in trip proved just the trick for No Memory (6m Westerner - Pass The Plate, by Commander Collins), as she gained her maiden win over hurdles at Ballinrobe on Monday.

The winner of a point-to-point maiden in December, the William O’Brien-trained bay was one of 13 to line up for the mares’ maiden hurdle over two miles and an extended five furlongs. Ambrose McCurtin rode her towards the back of the field, making headway to chase the leaders from two out and was travelling well when leading at the final flight. Staying on strongly on the run in, she won by four lengths and three quarters from Flamin Aimee (Oscar).

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “She did very well and seems to be improving with her racing.”

Owned by Ms Mary O’Brien, No Memory was bred by Thomas Hanley out of an unraced half-sister to Graded performer Makethe Mostofnow (Milan).
