Loop Head (Westerner) Makes A Winning Debut At Nenagh

Westerner Sires 1-2 In Four-Year-Old Maiden

Loop Head (4g Westerner - River Mill, by Supreme Leader) led home a 1-2 for Castlehyde Stud sire Westerner in Saturday’s four-year-old maiden at Nenagh point-to-point.

The John Staunton owned and trained newcomer led from the second fence and despite Derek O’Connor losing his irons at the last, won by half a length in comfortable fashion. Fellow newcomer Go West (Westerner) claimed runners-up honours, finishing three lengths clear of the third horse.

Loop Head was bred by Robert Hennelly out of a winning half-sister to Galway Hurdle winner Cloone River.
