Yeats Enjoys Productive Sunday Between The Flags

The Bull McCabe (5g Yeats - Twilight View, by Lord Americo) completed a double on the card for his sire when landing the five-year-old maiden at Dromahane on Sunday.

Ridden by Benny Walsh, the Brian Jordan-trained bay produced a late challenge to pass favourite Defuture Is Bright (Westerner) in the final 100 yards and win by a length and a half.

The sales ring is presumably now the next destination for the Noel Kevin Casey-owned winner, who was bred by Thomas P. Ward.

The eventful opener, a four-year-old mares’ maiden, saw the stewards reverse the placings and announce Tucanae (4m Yeats - Nova Cyngi, by Kris S) the winner.

Owned and bred Eclipse Bloodstock and G. Hadden, Tucanae is a half-sister to top-class chaser Dodging Bullets.

Later in the day at Monksgrange, the Robert Tyner-trained Bella Ballerina (5m Yeats - The Real Athlete, by Presenting) won at the second time of asking, in quite taking style.

Sent off favourite on debut in February, she was ridden to chase the leaders by Barry O’Neill and made smooth headway to lead from the second last. Staying on well, she scored by three lengths, with the same distance again back to the favourite in third.

Owned by Catherine O’Driscoll, Bella Ballerina was bred by Vincent and Jimmy Lawlor and is a half-sister to Graded chaser Real Milan (Milan).
