Yeats Mare Battles To Defend Unbeaten Record

Irish bumper winner Wheres Maud Gone (5m Yeats - Barchetta, by Flemensfirth) dug deep to provide new connections with a thrilling win in the mares’ bumper at Ayr on Monday.

The Michael Carroll-bred bay was sent off favourite on her first start for Laura Morgan and Anthony Barney, who purchased the mare after an eight length debut victory for Sam Curling. Adam Wedge rode her to chase the leader, making headway from five furlongs out to dispute at the three furlong marker. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, she showed a willing attitude when challenged by Condesa and prevailed by a neck on the line, as the pair drew 22 lengths clear of the field.

Wheres Maud Gone is a full-sister to another bumper winner in Suvretta (Yeats), while their dam is a half-sister to three black-type performers.
