Yeats Mare Draws Clear To Land Bumper
Lady Breffni (5m Yeats - Time To Shine, by Pivotal) appreciated a step up in trip when running out a clear winner of the mares’ bumper at Downpatrick on Sunday.
An impressive 14 length winner of her sole point-to-point start for Dermot McLoughlin, she finished third in her first bumper over two miles last month. Racing over a furlong and a half farther on Sunday, she was sent off favourite under Tom Hamilton, who positioned her chasing the leaders. Taking closer order from three furlongs out, she soon led and drew clear, staying on to extend her advantage to seven and a half lengths on the line.
Hamilton commented after the race, “She's a nice mare, she won a point-to-point well and she had a good run in a winners' bumper in Tipperary, and she stepped forward and put that experience to good use there.”
Joseph O’Brien purchased Lady Breffni after her point win and she now races for owner Mark Dobbin. She was bred by Mr TJ Adams out of the five-time winner Time To Shine.
