Yeats Mare Gains Further Black Type In Punchestown Opener
Party Central (6m Yeats - Itsalark, by Definite Article) provided connections with a perfect start to the Punchestown Festival when landing the opening contest of the meeting, Tuesday’s Listed Mares’ Novice Hurdle.
Successful in a Listed bumper last season, the Gordon Elliott-trained bay gained a black-type win over hurdles at Punchestown in December, before taking a valuable hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Sent off second favourite under Davy Russell, Bective Stud’s representative raced in mid-division for much of the way and began to improve from three out. Travelling well with two flights left to jump, she was shaken up approaching the last and was ridden out to score by a length and a quarter.
Party Central adds to an impressive record, having won or finished second in eight of her ten starts. The daughter of Yeats was bred by Frank Motherway and Kevin Curtin.
