Yeats Mare Impresses On First Start Under Rules
The Cull Bank (5m Yeats - Creme D’Arblay, by Singspiel) won her first start under rules when running out an impressive winner of the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Fontwell on Thursday.
Wayne Hutchinson took the ride and settled his mount in midfield, improving their position to chase the leaders two from home. Pushed along, the bay led before the last and ran on well to score by six lengths, leaving the favourite and previous bumper winner Bullfrog to claim runners-up honours.
Now carrying the colours of Mrs June Watts, The Cull Bank was purchased by Alan King and Highflyer Bloodstock for £50,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham December Sale. Earlier in December, she won a Four-Year-Old Mares Maiden by four lengths at Tattersalls for Brian Jordan.
Bred by Christopher Maye, the daughter of Castlehyde Stud sire Yeats comes from the family of Lancashire Oaks winner Andaleeb.
