Yeats Mare Makes It Two From Two At Cheltenham
Thursday saw The Player Queen (5m Yeats - Seductive Dance, by Groom Dancer) back up her debut point-to-point success by making a winning start under rules at Cheltenham.
The Melanie Rowley-trained bay won a maiden at Maisemore Park in October, but faced two bumper winners and an Irish point-to-point winner in the mares’ bumper over two miles and one furlong. She raced prominently throughout under Alex Edwards, who pushed her along from two furlongs out and led 110 yards out. She beat the favourite Game On For Glory (Fame And Glory) by three parts of a length, with the first two drawing five and a half lengths clear of the field.
Owned by Philip Rowley, The Player Queen was bred by John Dwan and John Brennan.
