Yeats Mare Proves A Class Above On Hurdle Debut
The Willie Mullins-trained Finest Evermore (4f Yeats - St Helans Bay, by Heron Ireland) could not have been more impressive when winning Monday’s Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary.
The bay was sent off favourite for the two and a half mile contest following her easy success in a bumper last month. Paul Townend rode her to make all, his mount jumping well throughout and went clear from the second last. Drawing away all the while, she scored by all of 23 lengths on the line.
Speaking after the race, Townend said, “She jumped like a pro. She is a lovely buy for John Turner and hopefully he will have plenty fun with her. She is definitely a potentially smart mare.”
Owned by John Turner as the Leinster Partnership, Finest Evermore was bred by Paddy McCormack and Seamus Larkin and hails from the family of Altior.
